I got in a few hours of grant writing this morning, trying to catch up on having missed so much time last weekend and week. Feeling like the application I'm working on is really coming into shape.

I hadn't watched a KJ Ozborne video in quite awhile, the shipping container part at the 17:50 mark here reminds me of the basement arrangement Duncan and I have! It's not fancy or pretty, but we can exercise, we have electricity, we have a bathroom, we have a little hot plate and microwave air frier combo, a little fridge and freezer, and so on.

The initial house addition investment was expensive, I probably couldn't afford to do it in 2026. But back in 2021, the proceeds from my Twin Cities house paid for that-- zero debt from the project. Cost me next to nothing to put together the basement part, and I have no mortgage payment as I co-own the property outright. I even have a little garage outside for my car, so it doesn't get hailed on. It's not perfect, but it is economical.

I sort of feel like I need it now, with how expensive everything has gotten. I have absolutely zero clue how I would be surviving right now if I actually had a mortgage payment. The kids would have to go into a public school or something because we would need two full-time income earners.

On a different note, things are so bad right now with Lazio that it got me reminiscing of "the good old days", barely more than just five years ago when our team had about double the quality it does now. Somehow I had that insane Correa goal in the Coppa Italia final pop into my head, so I went and looked it up.

Ellyn and the kids have frequently been going to Mass at "the big church in town" on Saturdays, since it lines up with Henrietta's work schedule. Since I'm going to Mass alone on Sundays then, I've been serving at the altar even when I'm not technically scheduled, so we can do candles during the processions and Gospel reading. It's cool to have three servers.

I have literally everything muted today, and might tomorrow as well. I've been spending on average about eight hours of socializing per day for the past several days, so taking this weekend to have some alone time to collect myself, and pray. Might play some video games this afternoon too.
